After the sustained sensory overload of a busy convention, crowds, noise, constant social interaction stretched across a full day or several, many attendees need some form of genuine decompression before returning fully to ordinary daily life, whether that means a quiet evening alone or simply an early, restorative night's sleep.

Recognising this need as entirely normal, rather than as some kind of personal failing, helps attendees plan their post convention time more sensibly, perhaps building in a quiet buffer day before work or other obligations resume, rather than expecting themselves to snap immediately back into a completely normal routine straight away.

Some fandoms have started openly discussing aftercare as part of general convention advice, encouraging attendees to plan ahead for rest rather than treating exhaustion afterward as a surprise. This small shift in culture reflects a genuinely growing awareness that enjoyment and sustainable wellbeing can, and really should, comfortably coexist together.
