Protecting items from direct sunlight, dust and constant handling matters too, especially for anything printed, painted or fabric based. A little consistent care taken in display extends the natural life of a piece considerably, which matters more the longer a collection is eventually kept and treasured.
Some collectors rotate what is currently on show rather than displaying everything at once, giving items a rest from light and rediscovering pieces they had half forgotten about. A collection that changes occasionally tends to stay far more interesting to actually live with day to day. This kind of rotation also gives a collector fresh reasons to appreciate pieces seen every single day.
