Some collectors set out with a clear, defined endpoint in mind, a specific full set they are steadily working toward, while others collect more openly, adding pieces as genuine interest dictates without ever really aiming toward any fixed, final finishing point at all, content simply to keep browsing and discovering new pieces indefinitely.
Reaching a defined endpoint can bring real, genuine satisfaction, but it can also occasionally bring a strange sense of anticlimax, since the ongoing pleasure of searching and adding new pieces suddenly comes to a natural stop once there is simply nothing further left in the world to look for.
Many experienced collectors eventually redefine what completeness even means to them, shifting focus toward condition, display or a slightly different related theme once an original goal is finally reached, keeping the underlying hobby alive and genuinely satisfying well beyond any single original finishing line ever first imagined at the start.
