Collecting Across Print, Physical and Digital Formats
Launch library · evergreen read

Modern collecting spans several genuinely different formats at once, printed material, physical objects and increasingly digital items too, each offering its own particular satisfaction and its own particular set of challenges around storage, display and simply keeping track of what has already been carefully acquired over the slowly passing years.
Digital collecting in particular raises questions that physical collecting never really had to consider, around ownership, access and permanence, since a digital item's long term availability can depend entirely on a platform continuing to exist rather than simply on how carefully an owner has chosen to store or protect it.
Many collectors end up favouring one format over the others, while some deliberately mix all three together, treating each as a genuinely different but equally valid way of expressing the exact same underlying enthusiasm for the subject matter they have chosen to collect around, season after season, over many years.
