Meeting a Guest at a Convention Respectfully

Meeting someone whose work you genuinely admire at a convention, in a signing line or a panel afterward, calls for a particular kind of respectful restraint: being warm and genuine without being overwhelming, respecting a guest's time and any stated limits, and remembering they are meeting many, many people that same day.
A brief, genuine word of appreciation usually lands far better than an elaborate speech or an excessive number of questions crammed into a short, limited window of time. Guests generally remember warmth and simple courtesy far more clearly than any single specific thing a fan actually chose to say to them.
Respecting posted boundaries around photos, autographs and physical contact matters enormously too, since a guest's comfort and consent should always come before a fan's own excitement in the moment. Most guests respond generously to fans who are considerate, patient and genuinely respectful of the reasonable limits actually in place.
