A parasocial bond is the one sided sense of closeness a fan can feel toward a public figure or fictional character, built up through repeated exposure rather than any mutual acquaintance. It is a completely normal, well documented part of how humans respond emotionally to stories and personalities they encounter often over time.

These bonds are not inherently unhealthy, and most people experience some version of them without any real difficulty. They can offer comfort, inspiration and a genuine sense of connection, especially during difficult or lonely periods of life. Trouble tends to arise only when the one sided nature of the relationship gets forgotten or quietly ignored altogether.

Healthy fandom keeps a light, self aware hand on this awareness: enjoying the feeling of closeness while remembering that it flows mostly in one direction. That balance lets fans care deeply about a figure's work and public persona without mistaking familiarity with them for an actual mutual, reciprocated relationship.
