The Etiquette of Convention Photography

Photographing cosplayers and fellow attendees at a convention comes with its own clear, widely understood etiquette: always asking permission before taking a photo, respecting a clear no without pushing further, and being patient if a costume needs a moment to be properly arranged before the actual picture is finally taken.
Sharing photos afterward carries its own responsibility too, crediting the cosplayer when their name or handle is known, and respecting any specific requests about how or where a particular photo should or should not be used or posted more widely once it has actually left the photographer's own personal camera or phone.
Good photography etiquette ultimately treats the subject as a genuine person deserving basic courtesy, not simply as content to be casually captured and used however the photographer personally prefers. This mutual respect keeps convention photography feeling collaborative rather than intrusive or one sided for the person being photographed.
